Dream Yoga:

The Path of Awakening Through Sleep and Dream

With Andrew Holecek Friday, May 5th - Wednesday, May 10th, 2023

Discover the world of nocturnal meditation, where a wealth of wisdom awaits you every night. Lucid dreaming is the first of five nocturnal practices, which include liminal dreaming, dream yoga, sleep yoga, and bardo yoga

These meditations offer boundless potential for psychological and spiritual growth, and provide a unique “night school” to explore the nature of mind and reality.

During this program we’ll examine the science behind lucidity, the benefits, Eastern and Western techniques to induce lucid dreams, and what to do with them. Learn how lucid dreaming leads to lucid living and lucid dying. Discover how this ancient practice can change your brain, facilitate healing, and spiritually wake you up.

At this Lucid Dream Yoga 5-Day Retreat, join us in the foothills of the Alpujarra mountain range in Spain, stay in traditional Alpujjaran style accommodation at this magical retreat center, and meet like-minded people while you learn about some of the deepest offerings from the wisdom traditions.

Your Registration Includes:

The aspiration behind Andrew’s writing and teaching is to help others: to help them by understanding the difficulties inherent on the spiritual path; to help by transforming the obstacles at the end of life into opportunities; to help by introducing people to the power of meditation; and to help by realizing you can use the night to transform the day.

He holds degrees in classical music, biology, and a doctorate in dental surgery. Andrew lives in Boulder, Colorado.

Braddon Hall

Braddon Hall has been on the Dharma path since 1987, after he broke a hip at the age of 17. The path continues to unfold almost every day. He lived 30 years in Boulder, Colorado, where he soaked up wisdom from many traditions. He has had the privilege to study 20 years of Ashtanga yoga with Richard Freeman, including some time in Mysore, India, with Pattabhi Jois. In the last two decades his body slowed down; he transitioned to Body Based meditation with Reggie Ray and found the Tibetan Buddhist Vajrayana path. To not get overly serious, he brought his two cute sons and wife to the fun, and they co-taught Circus Yoga for many years.

 Neuroscience of Lucid Dreaming

Many research papers have been published in the emerging field of lucid dreaming and revealed the powerful application of lucid dreaming has as a practice for enhanced metacognition. For example, the Harvard Business Review published an article that confirmed practice within lucid dreams improves performance in real life.

At the University of Lincoln, it was found that lucid dreamers exhibited better problem solving abilities in their day-to-day lives. At the National Library of Medicine two studies found that motor practice within lucid dreams was similar in effectiveness in improving performance as actual physical practice and mental practice in wakefulness.
Researchers at Yale University in the US have discovered that people are able to learn new skills in their dreams through lucid dreaming. Yale team member Dr Peter Morgan said people can use the lucid dreaming technique to train their brains: “We know that by engaging circuits in the brain we can change its architecture”. It was found that lucid dreamers performed better in gambling tasks that tested the regions of the brain involved in social interactions and emotional decision-making. This finding was supported by a previous study where lucid dreamers practiced throwing coins into cups and were better at the task upon wakingSimilar improvement were also observed in a study that tested dart throwing within dreams.

A Personal Note from Andrew

"As a former dental surgeon, concert pianist, competitive freestyle skier, and now author, I cannot tell you how transformative lucid dreaming has been for all my physical, professional, and psycho-spiritual pursuits. I’ve literally practiced Beethoven sonatas in my lucid dreams, rehearsed lectures, incubated dreams to receive ideas for books, acted as a surrogate dreamer for others, healed myself in dreams, had hyper-lucid dreams more real than waking reality, received precognitive dreams that accurately foretold physical events (and probably prevented serious untoward experiences), received scores of teachings, and purified countless bad habits. Many of the most transformative experiences of my life happen in my dreams. What are dreams made of? They’re made of your mind. By working with your mind in such a distilled environment, you can really accelerate your growth and development. Had I not personally experienced – and continue to experience – these remarkable benefits (and I’ll share many more in the retreat, including videos of others reaping the same benefits), I’m not sure I would believe that so much is possible when you explore the nocturnal mind. Please trust me, it is! This is why I’m so passionate about the nocturnal meditations, and delight in sharing the magic with others. You’re sleeping on top of a vast untapped natural resource every night that can exceed your wildest dreams – and then help you fulfill them in waking life."
